ACTIVITIES AND SIGHTS WITHIN QUEEN ELIZABTH NATIONAL PARK
Kyambura Gorge
We will visit Kyambura Gorge, formed by the turbulent waters of the roaring Kyambura River, provides a lush riverine forest, home to chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons and other primates as well as plenty of forest birds.
A guided nature walk takes visitors into the gorge and offers a great chance to track habituated chimps in their natural habitat.
Launch trip along the Kazinga Channel
The unique 02 hour launch trip along the Kazinga Channel between Lakes George and Edward passes through possibly the highest hippo concentration in Africa and many mammals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. It’s like a “Who’s who” of African bird life.
Birdwatching
Over 500 species of birds have been recorded here making it a prime target for birdwatchers. Species recorded include the shoebill stork, black bee-eater, 11 types of kingfishers and a variety of raptors including several falcons and eagles. In the crater lakes, spectacular flocks of flamingos gather, creating the image of a moving pink carpet.
